In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a coconut vendor opens a tender coconut so the customer can eat the gel-like meat. (I found out later that you won't really get ill if you don't eat the coconut meat.) The tool he uses to do the scraping is actually part of the shell he cut off with his machete.
